Today, we all know what Earth looks like from a distance. Our ancestors never got to see the• "big picture" of Earth. Instead, they viewed the planet as a huge unknown, with unlimited resources. We know that Earth is a single, small globe floating in space with limited resources.

We must protect our environment and the resources we share in every way we can. We - all of the inhabitants of planet Earth - must work together to make the environment as clean and healthy as possible.

The key to protecting the environment is action. We can all take responsible action to make this a better world - a world that stops pollution and ends wasteful use of natural resources, a world that respects and preserves our animal and plant kingdoms, a world t-hat is a healthier and happier place to live.

The World We Live In

It's an interesting world we live, in!

We fly to other planets and create artificial intellect'. We discover old manuscripts and get to the depth of the ocean. We release tremendous energies and build the tunnel under the Channel.

Unfortunately, the progress of science is not so harmless. You shouldn't forget about nuclear bombs, the Chernobyl disaster, ozone hole.

We cause global disasters and pollute beautiful planet.

There are hard questions to be answered. For example, people use oil to power everything from cars to home furnaces. But that oil has to be drilled somewhere. Oil drilling creates pollution. Can people have fuel without creating pollution? This is the type of question environmentalists, and others,- try to answer.

Despite the work of many people, each year the health of our earth gets worse. We use more and more resources and release more and more pollution. This leads to the question of what you can do to help the planet.

In many countries we can see the posters "Keep the Earth clean and green".

In some countries there are rather strict laws. Dropping litter in public places is forbidden. In Singapore you can be fined up to $ 500-.

We must all strive for the clean environment. But there is a good saying: "You needn't strive for cleanliness, you should take a broom and sweep your street".
